Project Life Thursday

Sunday: Today was the first time in the past few weeks that getting dressed did not turn into a full out throw down between Taylor and I.  Plus she looked so pretty for church and is starting to look like such a big girl!

10.03

Monday: I woke up this morning and realized the lamb that Taylor brought Chris yesterday was still in the bed with us.  I think Chris enjoyed having something of hers close after being gone to a church retreat all weekend.

10.04

Tuesday:  Taylor entertained Chris, Desha, and I at dinner.  I really think it was all for Desha!

10.05

Wednesday:  I went for my 36 week ultrasound to see if Elizabeth is breech like Taylor was and she is not.  Chris and I laughed as she kept her foot up in her face the entire time.  It was so nice to get one last chance to see her sweet face and check on her health before her big Birth Day in a few weeks.  My c-section has been scheduled for November 1st at 3:00pm(39 weeks along).

10.06

Thursday: Taylor has now learned to use caring for Baby Emma as a stalling technique at naptime and bedtime.  Today she informed me that she needed to change Emma’s sheets because she had an accident.  Wonder where she gets that from?

10.07

Friday: This picture explains our morning perfectly.  Heather came over with her girls and they all had so much fun playing together.  Taylor and Marie are finally at a point where they interact a lot while playing and Emma just wants to do whatever the big girls are doing.  This time next year it will be Elizabeth following Emma around everywhere.

Saturday: For a girl who barely had any hair for the first year of her life, she is finally catching up.  She looks so cute with her pigtails and we even have bows for them.  Ya-Ya caught this picture with her phone right before Taylor spent the morning with her while Chris and I toured the hospital.

36 weeks!

I can’t believe that our little Elizabeth is going to be here soon!  At this point I feel like a hippo and am ready to meet our little girl.  On Wednesday, I had an ultrasound and we got to see Elizabeth again.  As typical of the rest of her ultrasounds, she had her feet up around her face and never gave us the greatest view of her face.  I love that she is already developing a personality and can’t wait to see it in action.(outside of her kicking my ribs)  Unlike Taylor, Elizabeth is not breach but we went ahead and scheduled a c-section for November 1st.  That means we are 3 weeks away from her being here, if she waits until them to come.  The nursery is almost ready(pictures below), I am starting to wash blankets and clothes for her, and I am working on putting together a bag for the hospital.  Scary!  I am nesting like crazy, but run out of energy(or time) to complete all my projects and am constantly making to-do lists for Chris to finish.  I am also picking the brains of all my fellow mom’s of what they did when they had their second child or what they would do different.  Is there something you wish you had known prior to having number 2?  It is nice knowing that I won’t feel like a rookie mom so much when Elizabeth is born, but I’m sure she make me look like one a few times just to remind me who’s in charge.

Here are some pictures of the ultrasound(mainly for my Mom).  The top two are the same picture, but I labeled the right one so you can kinda see what you are looking at.  It is a 3-D picture taken if you were looking right at her face.  I had no clue what I was looking at on the screen and just smiled and nodded at the nurse.  Good thing they give you a printout to study later and have your husband explain to you so you don’t look like a dork.  The bottom picture is a side profile of Elizabeth and she was actually sucking her bottom lip during this picture.

And a chance to see how big I look with this cutie at 36 weeks and then on the right is me at same point with Taylor.  I am realizing the black shirt doesn’t make me look as huge and maybe the blue shirt was a bad clothing choice when majorly preggo.

Now for a tour of the room.  When you walk in door this is what you see.  Plus I added close up views of the paintings that I did for her walls.  Keep in mind that I’m a stamper and like to color in images that are already drawn, so I blew up images of some of Taylor’s animal magnets and traced them.

A close up view of some of the items on Elizabeth’s bookcase.  The framed initial was a wonderful gift from Heather at my baby shower.  I also kept the glass baby bottle with pink flowers as a decoration item for her bookcase too.  The teddy bear was given to me when my best friend passed away in college and added a sweet memory to the room.

Now turn to your left and you see the dresser and changing pad where many a moment will be spent changing a diaper or dressing a sweet girl.  I loved the E initial from Heather so much, that we have ordered a similar style wooden E to hang over the dresser.(Just one of the final touches that we are waiting on)  Turn to your left again and you will find the crib that will soon be the sweet sleeping place for Elizabeth.  The crib is getting ready to snuggle it’s fourth little girl.  It belonged to my brother’s two girls prior to making it’s way to our house.  I love that all the cousins are able to share something like this!  If you were to look in E’s room right now, you would find that the command adhesive hooks decided they didn’t want to hold the quilt anymore and so the quilt is waiting for Chris to hang a bit more permanently.

One final turn to the left will have you looking at E’s closet and the chair that will be used to rock and comfort a little one to sleep, through illness, teething, and that crying you just can’t figure out.  Plus you will see a big sister that loves to help out in E’s room any chance she can get and moves stuff around to where she thinks it should belong.

Hope you enjoyed our tour!

Taylor Tuesday

Even dinner at Firehouse Subs can be amusing when you have our 2 year old along to entertain you.  These are the moments I am thankful I keep a camera in my purse.  I am still trying to figure out if she was entertaining us or Desha(her new best friend).

I <3 my Cricut

I constantly see the amazing things other women are doing craft-wise, bookmark them as something I want to do, and when the bookmark section of my internet looks more like a book I start to go through them and attempt some of the projects.  One of the projects on my list was to learn how to cut vinyl with my Cricut.  I had actually taken several steps towards this like buying the vinyl and buying a wooden plaque for the front porch, but both items got pushed to the back of the craft room.  Back in August(yes I realize it shouldn’t take months to blog about a project), I decided that it was time to replace Chris’ fancy front door signs(see pic below) and finish my project.

  IMG_8702 IMG_8703

It also meant it was time to do more than just play around with my Sure Cuts A Lot program.  I also referred to this blog for ideas on how best to cut vinyl myself.  After getting my laptop and machine to talk to each other, the whole process was really quick and easy.  So after the paint dried on my plaque it was ready for the stickers and hanging.  Now this pretty sign hangs above our doorbell.  It still amazes me how many people still ring the doorbell even with this sign, but the UPS guy is getting better.  Luckily it’s not the doorbell that wakes up Taylor, but our dog that goes CRAZY when the doorbell is rung, so I just pray the dog is outside on those few occasions people can’t read.

After completing this project I was feeling pretty brave and offered to help make some stickers for signs for my friend’s Mad Hatter party.  This time I was a bit more adventurous in trying to make stickers that were a pointing finger.  After much searching for the perfect image, then figuring out how to get that image to work with my program, and some select words for the machine who would not do what I needed it to… they finally cut out correctly.  I was so excited when they finally turned out and can’t wait to see what they look like on the signs.  I cut out various font/size versions of ‘This Way’ and ‘That Way’ for the signs to go with the pointing fingers.

I now have Chris trying to figure out what all my Cricut can do.  It’s not very often that Chris gets excited about something that involves my craft room!

Showered with love

You would think with all my time resting that I would have blogged about this much quicker, but my Nintendo DS seems to call my name when I have some kid free time.  Maybe it’s the fact that I can rest it on my belly or that I am madly addicted to some of the games.  Either way it has prevented me from blogging as much as I would like and added posting about some stuff to my to-do list :(

A few weekends ago we were blessed with two wonderful baby showers in one weekend.  Chris and I hadn’t planned on any showers since this is our second child and another girl, but were doubly blessed when given two showers.  How wonderful that all these people wanted to help us celebrate the upcoming birth of Elizabeth!  As a bonus, my mom was able to come down and participate in both showers too!

The first was a sweet, girly shower given by some of my fellow mothers that I once worked with or met through playgroups.  I love all the details they put into the shower!  We played some fun games, ate some wonderful food, and shared Mommy stories.  It was a wonderful way to spend the afternoon and I am so thankful for these ladies!  They are how I survive motherhood!  Without them I’m not sure who I would turn to for advice while potty training, toddler tantrums, pregnancy(the first and second), and being a mother.  Thank you ladies for such a special day and celebrating Elizabeth!

The next day Jeff, Shelly, and Kellie arrived at our house to prepare for a BBQ diaper shower.  An issue arose with the original shower location, so we moved it to our house.  This actually worked out really well since all the kids could play outside and at the end I just plopped down on the couch and was already home.  And maybe it’s the southern girl coming out in me, but I have craved BBQ during both pregnancies and it made this pregnant woman very happy to see lots of BBQ show up at our house!  It was a wonderful celebration with friends and family, and at the end I counted that we had 5 pregnant women together at one time.  I wish I would have grabbed a photo with all the preggo women, but ended up with just a photo with one.  My favorite quote from the party would be when one of the ladies who is due a few weeks after me told another pregnant lady(due in March) ‘I like your jeans.  They have a zipper.’  Let me just say that I was WOWed by the amount of diapers I got and loved hearing the stories of the non-kid friends trying to buy diapers.  Elizabeth is definitely set for diapers and I will appreciate this even more when I need to come straight home from work to give me a break rather than stopping to pick up diapers!

Thank you to everyone who showered us(and Elizabeth) with so much love!

Project Life Thursday

I am actually on top of my photos this week and even made sure that I was taking photos each day.  Now if I can remember to take a profile picture of myself for memories of how BIG I am right now we will be doing even better!

Sunday: Jeff, Shelly, and Kellie threw us a diaper shower for Elizabeth.  It was so nice to see friends and family and they made us an adorable diaper cake.  We were blessed with many diapers for Elizabeth and it won’t be long before we will be using them!

 09.26

Monday: After a weekend of showers, I headed to my craft room to stamp some thank you notes.  Taylor loves any opportunity to spend time in there and has really become a pleasure to have with me while crafting.

09.27

Tuesday:  The thank you note writing continued into today and I was able to get them all done!

09.28

Wednesday: Taylor had a teddy bear picnic at preschool today and her teacher was kind enough to send us a picture of their lunch.  Taylor’s ‘teddy bear’ was bunny since we still don’t go anywhere without him.

09.29

Thursday:  The weather has been absolutely beautiful this week and we’ve even been on a few walks.  Taylor surprised me today when she wanted to sit in the ‘big girl’ swing for a change.  She doesn’t want to be pushed but just sit there.  I was able to grab some great photos of her and the more I look at them, the more she is starting to look like me at her age.

09.30

Friday: I was craving cupcakes so Taylor and I made cupcakes this morning.  As soon as I pulled the box out of the pantry she was pulling a chair into the kitchen so that she could help me.  She loves to help out while cooking in any way she can!

10.01

Saturday:  Taylor loved eating one of the cupcakes we made yesterday and was showing me her chocolate tongue!

Taylor Tuesday

What do you do when your toddler says, 'Look at my chocolate icing tongue Mama!'?  Well this Mama grabbed the camera of course!
