Mojo Monday #97

I am so thankful for longer afternoon naps so that get back to my stamping.  That ONE short nap for a few weeks was just killing me and my stamps were just calling my while a toddler kept my attention.  I feel like I did a really good job sticking to the Mojo Monday sketch this week.

Mojo97Sketch The inspiration for this week’s came from the gift it went with.  My friend Heather had a baby girl last week and I wanted to wait until we found out what it was to get a gift.  I love the greens and yellows, but love shopping for gender specific clothes more.  I used one of the onesies as my color/card inspiration.  Isn’t it adorable???  I love how little the clothes are!

I also got to hold the new baby!  It’s hard for me to remember when Taylor was that little, well actually she was never quite that little but pretty close.  Baby E was so sweet and tiny.  Plus I was jealous that Heather didn’t even look like she was ever pregnant!  I think I have more of a can’t believe it’s still there baby belly than she does!  When I saw the giraffe I knew I had to grab my Wild About You stamp set to match it.  I wish I had some animal print paper, but like the TE polka dot and striped paper.  The background paper is double sided so I cut it in half and then flip one side over so that you saw both the dots and stripes.  I used the theory of more is more on this card and had fun.  First I added the piercing around the giraffe, then gave her some stickles/glitter on her polka dots, then added the bling to the corner.  I might try this theory more often because it turned out cute.  I wish you could see the sparkles better, so just turn your screen to get the full effect.

Supplies: SU Stamps Wild About You & Warm Words; TE Tiny Dancer Patterned Paper, SU Pretty in Pink, Whisper White, Regal Rose; SU Ink Pretty In Pink, Regal Rose; TE Tiny Twinkles, paper piercer, Making Memories flowers/brads.

Welcome Card

We have a friend coming to stay with us for a few weeks until his wife can get their house sold(out of state) and so that he can start his new job.  We got him a few things to make him feel welcome to Austin and I needed a card to go with the gift.  Do you know how hard it is to come up with a masculine card???  I figured out the layout and papers, but struggled with the actual stamped image.  Luckily I got inspired when I saw this card on a blog I follow.  Thank you Jill for the great layout and design.  I really like how it turned out.  You might not be able to tell, but I actually clear embossed the image to make it a richer color.  I must make a bigger effort to buy more guy-friendly stamps!

Taylor Tuesday

I grabbed the camera Sunday morning when I looked in the backseat and saw our little cutie all tuckered out.  Taylor is one busy little girl, but she sleeps she crashes.  Take note that not only does she have bunny, that we now have a kitty.  Thank you Aunt KK for our new VERY loved kitty, Charlie!!!  As I post this picture I realize that her car seat straps were off one shoulder so please don’t call CPS on me!  If you have kids then you know that you don’t move a kiddo when they are sleeping in hopes that they will stay sleeping for the rest of the car ride.

ps. her bangs are starting to look much better now that they’ve had a few weeks to grow out!

Options

Every afternoon when Tay finally isn’t going to sleep gets up from nap I give her the task of putting her baby monitor back on my night stand.  She loves tasks right now and I’m hoping that she continues to be mommy’s little helper.  She made me laugh the other day when kept trying to figure out how to hold onto the monitor but not put down bunny or her necklace.  Then she discovered that it would fit under her chin and so away she trotted.

Cupcake Challenge #74

Taylor that does the Friday Cupcake Challenges moved across country, so the cupcake challenges were put on hold for a few weeks. I really missed the challenge of sitting down and creating something each Friday. I’m not sure I would of had time anyways since little miss is down to just one nap and most of my stamping was done in the morning. I was able to get some stamping done amidst the chaos in our house last night and this afternoon. I’m a few days late, but here is the cupcake challenge from Friday:

Taylor Tuesday

Taylor LOVES our cat Tessa and looks for her every time we go outside.  We were headed to the sprinkler park the other day and when I got done putting our stuff in the car this is what I saw.  Taylor had just plopped herself down by the kitty and was petting her.  Tessa is in heaven when anyone pets her, so the fact that Taylor was rubbing her belly was even better.  I love watching their friendship grow more and more everyday.  Tessa has even let Taylor try to pick her up a few times.  Poor kitty!

Taylor Tuesday

It's bad enough that Chris lets me cut his hair, but I think I should leave Taylor's up to the hairdresser, but her bangs were just TOO long!  This momma needs to step away from the scissors!

Just one of those days

Do you ever have one of those days when you kick yourself for something you said or thought a few days before that has now come back to haunt you???  That happened to me as I was changing Taylor’s bedding, for the 3rd time in two days, and was wishing someone had invented a better system for attaching/reattaching the bumper pads.  Why or why did I wonder we I need more than two sets of sheets the other day??  Guess Taylor’s exploding diapers karma had to remind me why!

Busy month

July has already proved itself to be a busy and VERY hot month.  I must talk on the phone too much because Taylor now turns lots of objects into phones and pretends to talk on them.

IMG_3985

To keep cool we’ve been the local sprinkler park a couple times.  Nothing beats cold water and free to get in!

Taylor probably doesn’t remember much from her first 4th of July, and I’m not sure I do either.(gotta love those sleepless nights with a newborn)  This year Taylor got to see her first parade in a nearby town.  She loved watching the all the different cars that drove by, cheering and clapping, and she even got a few goddies that people were giving away.  Yes that is a toy alligator that they were giving away for the kids!

Minutes after I took this picture, the red car had to stop and the kids ran smack into the back of the car!

No one was hurt, but it was really funny to see the faces of the kids.

Misty and JJ, this one’s for you.  Little did you know that Lola and Rico could be stars of the parade!

Time to go chase after this cutie and quit blogging!

Mojo Monday 94

I am actually posting this card right after I made it.  I waited until today to take the picture since we’ve seen how well my pictures at night turn out.  I have a baby shower for a friend from church and needed a girl baby card.  This one is a bit different than what a typically do, but I have some paper that retired and has been calling out my name to use.  I love using this word set because the front says' ‘One little baby’ and the inside says ‘many happy hearts’.  For this card I used the Mojo Monday 94 sketch:

More stamping creations

June and July are busy months and have needed lots of cards!  My dear friend BA has a birthday coming up next week so I pulled out the stamps again and got to work.  Once again I grabbed my Taylored Expressions paper and Stampin’ Up stamps.  They compliment each other so well!  I played with the idea of using my background paper at a diagonal.  IMG_3973 To keep with the diagonal I used a leftover piece of paper to add a little something to the inside.

IMG_3976 BA had come to a stamp camp I did a few months ago where we made 2 cards and 2 non-card items.  One of those non-card items was a bookmark.  She mentioned that she had lost her bookmark and wanted to make another one so I made her a new one.  Inside of using a magnet on this one I used the 5 petal flower punch to make it more like the bookmarks from the store.  I used to love looking through all the different bookmarks at the book fair at school each year.  I would think about the pages that it would mark for me and how I would treasure the opportunity to remove that bookmark and pick my book back up again.  Too bad that I now use a post-it note, magazine ad, or whatever I can grab to keep my place in a book I’m reading!

IMG_3978

To make sure the flowers stayed on, I hot glued them on each side of the ribbon and then added a button to add a little color.  By using a flower on each side it makes the flowers very strong!  This would also be cute with felt flowers!

Last week Taylor finished up swim lessons and I wanted to do something for her two swim instructors since they endured a few days of her whininess and really helped her become more comfortable with swimming.  I figured that any high school/college age kid would enjoy an iTunes gift card, so I need a cute card.  I found these instructions on how to make a gift card holder.  It is super easy and there is even a video to show you how to do it.  I have always loved this fishy stamp set and was excited to pull it out and use it again.  My attempt at the top of the holder looking like bubbles ended up more like snow, but oh well.

IMG_3980 Here’s the inside once you open it up.

IMG_3981

Then I needed a card for a friend that’s having a hard time finding a job.  I love this monkey, but not sure I will cut him out like this again.  That tail is quite a challenge!(but I love the way it turned out!)

IMG_3983

Question for my blog readers:  Is the font too small or the pictures too big?  I’ve started using Live Writer to create my posts(WAY easier to format the pictures and writing), but it seems to make the font look tiny and the pictures huge.  Hopefully nap time will be a good one today so I can clean house and have time to ink some stamps!

I also can’t wait for Big Brother tonight!! Anyone else a fan of this crazy addictive show?  Chris swears he is not going to get sucked into watching it with me again this year, but I know he can’t resist it!

Taylor Tuesday

I took Taylor to a sprinkler park on Friday and after a little cautiousness, she took off across the park.  It's was hard to capture a picture from the front as I was constantly chasing after Taylor.  She LOVED stomping in the water to make it splash or sloshing her feet in the deeper(barely 2 inches) parts of the water.  We will be planning more trips back to the sprinkler park soon as a way to keep cool in this Texas heat!

IMG_4003

I have more pictures from our trip to the park, but they will have to wait until I have more time to post tonight.
