11 months old

In less than a month our baby girl will be a year old.  This time last year I was counting down the days and visiting the doctor once a week.  I’m pretty sure the nursery was done(after a few freak out nesting moments) and everyone was ready for her to arrive.  Skip forward 11 months and I wonder how in the world she ever fit in my tummy.  How I love watching Elizabeth grow and change each month and this month as been a big one for her.

October 11

  • Weight 20 lbs – unfortunately we’ve been at the doctor a few times this month with ear infections and having to do breathing treatments.  I am crossing my fingers that you stay healthy and we avoid the tubes road.  It’s hard enough watching you get shots, I can’t even think of a procedure where they put you under.
  • You are wearing size 3 diapers, now a nighttime diaper after a few mornings when you woke up with wet pjs.  You wear size 9-12/6-12 month clothes.  The bonus is that you are able to wear some of Taylor’s clothes and may keep my shopping habits for you at bay for a few more months until you grow, the downfall is that I expected you to grow a bit more and your birthday dress may be a bit big Sad smile
  • You may be a little thing, but you eat anything we give you and ask for more.  You are the best eater and are VERY happy when eating.

  • You are now completely on formula/bottles and have decided to be much easier on everyone else giving you a bottle(or even those taking care of you period).
  • After months of waiting… you have a tooth!  You were a little cranky but not too bad and you love to rub your tongue across it.
  • Besides testing out your tooth, you love to stick out your tongue or make noises this month.  You are constantly making raspberry noises, smacking your lips, or making this funny noise by running your fist across your mouth.

  • We took several longer car trips this month and you are hit or miss.  You’ve slept, you’ve screamed, proved that you get car sick, entertained yourself with making noises, and been entertained by your sister.  Hang in there kid, car trips to Nana’s house are worth the drive!
  • I blame myself for letting you be the barefoot kid for the past few months since it has been scorching hot, but we are starting to enter cooler temperatures and you think it’s funny to take your shoes and socks off and throw them.  Please stop making the kid two rows ahead of us in church find your sandal.

  • After months of watching you crawl all over the place we thought you might want to start walking.  Instead you have jelly legs anytime we try to finger walk you around the house.  We also encouraged you to walk with several walker toys but you decided it was more fun to push furniture around the house.   You are also starting to climb things.  You have only used us as a stool so far, but it won’t take you long to figure out that chairs, stools, and toys can also help you be taller.

  • This has been our month of animal education.  Elizabeth became very interested in my mom’s cat and wanted to pet her every time she came in the same room.  Luckily, Princess is a very patient cat and dealt with Elizabeth pulling on her and lovingly petting her.  We tried working on this at home, and fortunately the sometimes testy Tessa Cat was very sweet too.  Good thing she also has much more to love on.  I tried working with Sadie too, but Elizabeth got tired of the kisses.
  • For months I’ve been telling Taylor to be careful around you and now I find myself telling you to be ‘sweet’ to her.  You love to grab her ponytail or hairbow any chance you get.  You like to pull my hair sometimes, but mostly your sister’s.

  • You are really starting to get into various toys and love playing catch/roll the ball.  That may be another reason you could’ve spent the entire month hanging out in the ball pit.

  • This month you helped us celebrate Granny Franklin(your great grandmother)’s 85th birthday.  It was a great time spent with family and you enjoyed more cousin time.

I’m not sure why we bother buying her toys to push/walk behind when Elizabeth finds chairs as a great way to get around the kitchen.  Maybe we have a future interior decorator on our hands???

Taylor Tuesday

You just thought you've had bad hair days, but poor Taylor can beat you.  On several occasions she has woken up with a crazy mop of hair like this.  Poor kid is going to hate me later in like for sharing this photo, but it just had to be done.

Lizzie thought she scored the mother load for snacks when she discovered Chris' Cheerio stash.

Taylor Tuesday

Each week I spend time going through photos to pick out a cute or funny one for you.  I was having a hard time picking from all the cute pictures of Taylor with Johanna(her cousin) from the weekend and thought I would see what I took on my phone.  To my surprise I had over 200 new photos/videos.  All the times I thought Taylor was playing games on my phone, she was mastering the art of taking her picture(she figured out how to have it flip to take self portraits) and the fish tank or taking video of her french fries and ketchup.  While I know you might find a good french fry video fascinating, here is one of her self portraits that I will be sure to keep.

Sister Saturday

After being pushed in all kinds of crazy directions, Elizabeth decided it was her turn to show Taylor what it was like.

Not walking may keep her from trying on my shoes, but it's never too early to accessorize.  My poor jewelry box will never be safe with two daughters!

Taylor Tuesday

I was hoping for a sweet picture to show off our dancer's choice of shoes(necessary when she heard thunder the night before) but ended up with a 'Can you make this face Mom?'.

Never boring around here!

10 months

I’m a few days(or weeks) late with this, but didn’t want to miss showing off pictures of this cutie.  She is such a ham that this photo session just made me laugh.  It also didn’t hurt that Taylor stood off to the side entertaining Elizabeth and wanting to be in pictures too.

September 11

  • You still weigh about the same and don’t seem to have grown much in the past month.  It is nice because you are able to fit into some of Taylor’s 6-12 month fall clothes, but all the 12-18 month fall/winter clothes I bought you are begging to be worn.  I love your petite little squirmy body and not sure where you put all the food you eat!
  • You still wear size 3 diapers and 9-12 month size clothes.
  • Nicknames: Lizzie, Sister, Little-bitty, Lil bit
  • There isn’t much you won’t eat if I put it in front of you and can’t wait for you to get some teeth so you can eat more.
  • I wonder if you will have a hard time adjusting to Taylor being gone three days a week when she starts preschool soon.  You love her so much!

IMG_0488

  • You are your PawPaw’s girl.  You are mad if you are hungry and if you are eating you are happy.  You can sit and eat at the table for hours as long as we keep food coming.

IMG_0323 IMG_0324

  • You learned to wave ‘Hi’ and sometimes say ‘Aye’ and high five this month, but do neither one when I want to impress someone with your cool skills.

MVI_0425

  • Taylor introduced you to bubble this month and you found them hilarious.  It has been so hot outside that we never really ventured out to play bubbles until this month.  You also loved trying to eat the want, but there are some things a Mom lets go with the second kid.
  • While you’ve got good balance, you aren’t showing any signs of wanting to walk and have no desire to walk with us holding onto your hands.  You are a super speedy crawler and attempt breakouts any chance you get.  For some reason you find the playroom(that is full of teeny tiny Legos), either side of the closed gates, your sister’s room, the bathroom(behind the toilet or near the plunger), trashcans, and my purse fascinating.  You crawl, rummage, or do whatever you can to go to these places.  I think you do it to drive me crazy, but then you give yourself away by your happy squeals when you get to said place.
  • My sweet girl you are full of giggles and smiles.  Your bond with Taylor is amazing to watch grow.  I am constantly reminded that no matter how much you look like your sister, that you are such a different person and I love that!

If you enter our home right now you will find a ball pit residing in our living room.  This would normally drive me crazy having it up all the time, but the girls LOVE it.  Even more, Elizabeth loves it.  She loves to crawl over and dive into the balls and just squeals with laughter.  So this is a common site in our house right now and worth overtaking our living room with colorful plastic balls.

Taylor Tuesday

Lately Taylor keeps asking me to take a picture(with my phone) and send it to Nana.  This was one of those times and she even made a sweet face for her.  Look closely and you will find someone else 'posing' for the picture too.

Elizabeth is not a happy girl if she’s hungry, but is very happy if she’s eating.  While swimming at Nana’s she got hungry so Nana came up with a solution that made our girl very happy.  Nothing like a poolside dining at Nana’s house while everyone else swam.(hey, at least I strapped her in)

When asked to strike a dance pose for the first day of dance class, this is what I got.  I didn't realize we were going to Sassy Class.

Just a few days late with this, but couldn't skip Elizabeth's picture for this week.(plus my Mom keeps asking where it is even though we are at her house)
Not sure why Elizabeth likes to cover her face with a bowl, but she thinks she is really funny when she does it.  Happy Sunday!
